That is the most Badass trailer I’ve ever seen. Rutger is the baddest cat in the
valley an always will be. Rutger was born in 44 and can still play a badass.
Only other to person to play a tough guy at his age was Charles Bronson
and he had balls dipped in gold, so Rutger is in good company.
Rutger has old boxer shorts that could kick my ass.
I owe him nothing but Awe.

I had my dad take me all over town (San Diego,ca.) to look for that thing and we didn’t find it…but Christmas morning of that year my parents had it waiting for me under the tree. Here I am almost 43 years old and guess what…I STILL HAVE IT! Yup, aside from his missing skull cover (a plastic clear looking piece) he is in great shape. I have that Godzilla that you featured (The Shogun Warriors one) and a few other pieces from my child hood. Have you seen the Alien toys from Hot Toys out of Hong Kong…INCREDIBLE LOOKING to say the least. I have three of them. The line of 1:6 toys is really cool looking. 70′s toys….boy do I miss them. This list goes on with what I had Adventure Team GI Joes, do you remember Bullet Head? Big Jim’s, I also had JJ Arms, Micro-naughts, Battlestar Galactica ships (when they could still fire the tiny missiles)Stretch Armstrong and the Alien, The six million dollar man (I also had Bigfoot and Oscar Goldman with his exploding suitcase)…I still have my original Bigfoot too! I had 4 Shogun Warriors (Godzilla, Rodan, Gaiking, Mazinga then came Star Wars figures and my world was never the same!

Hey Rob,
I’m disappointed you didn’t like the movie. I did agree with you that it was to long, but I guess as a fan of Matt Damon, I was willing to over look that aspect of the film. Say you kept Damon in the film, but recast the two women to actresses with a little more personality , would it have been a little better? In retrospect, I thought they could have done without all of the french woman’s part and the movie would have been just fine. Just a thought. Thanks for all the great reviews.

Matt Damon plays in another movie where he is humble yet
exceptionally gifted. Barf.
I recently watched the Vampire movie
Near Dark on IFC and it had some great parts, a 1987 Bill Paxton
was entertaining as always. And the ever violently stoic Lance
Hendriksen was great supporting cast. Also a Bizarre looking
Joshua Miller who looked like he was straight off the set of
River’s Edge was creepy fun. And Yes kids in the old days sunlight
would kill vampires. The special effects were spectacular when
the vampires would fail to evade the sunlight. The ending sucked
other than that it was a pretty good film. It’s that time of year
everyone, so find cool old movies on IFC, AMC, TCM, and DVR them.

Certainly John Carpenter should be represented. I’m sure “Halloween” will make the list but “Prince Of Darkness” should also be considered. Strange, haunting synth madness.

“Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” as well as the television show that spawned this prequel has several haunting Angelo Badalamenti/David Lynch songs including “Laura Palmer’s Theme” and “The Pink Room.”

I was afraid this would happen. A fresh, low-budget indie becomes a hit, so the sequel gets a bloated budget, special effects, and star power (I’ve already heard rumors that the 427th ghost will be played by Richard Moll). Granted, because that charming protagonist of the original is clearly in no shape for a sequel (being dead forever and all), there is no point continuing his story, so the prequel makes sense – on paper, that is. But by describing scenes of terror in detail, scenes that are doubtlessly more terrifying in the minds of those who study the original story, we have essentially painted a mustache on the Mona Lisa here.

Surely, a few prequels far outshine the originals (of course, I speak here of “Dumber and Dumberer”), but would that Mr. Berry have learned from the debacles of “Farewell to the Flesh,” “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning,” and, of course, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.”

Still, let us not dismiss Mr. Berry. He created “Spook Hill” – he has every right to cash in on his triumph. And “Spook Hill – the Prequel” (already dubbed SHTP by his more rabid fans) (that is to say, all of his fans) does contain glimmers of his original charm and aplomb. But let’s hope his (rumored) upcoming foray into the midget bodice-ripper genre offers him to return to his original form. There is no telling where the man who created the Boy Who Died Forever might take us next.

Sorry Robert, at the end of “Huckleberry Finn” Tom Saywer behaves is such an evil fashion that even Huckleberry is taken aback by what a supposedly “well-raised” boy can do.

Greg is a buffoon. An imbecile. He’s not dealt a crappy hand by life, he repeatedly digs his own holes and lies in them. He’s a one-note character who never receives any comeuppance, never atones for his faults, and never grows as a person. That is where the fault in these books lie. However, Diary of a Wimpy Kid was never intended to be a real book. Jeff Kinney began the saga as a daily updated online feature, similar to a newspaper comic, later collected and published in print form.

In a way, this explains Greg’s character (or lack thereof). There’s not supposed to be any continuity or grand storytelling elements. He exists solely to drive a gag-a-day narrative with a loose, overarching plotline. He’s as well constructed as Marmaduke or Garfield.

Greg was designed as a narcissistic, self-absorbed, entitled jerk, and by laughing at his shallow nature, we see a reflection on how tasteless it is to act like a narcissistic, self-absorbed, entitled jerk. There is absolutely no way anybody could read these books and interpret Greg as a noble figure, but he was never intended to be seen that way. He’s just a douchebag we’re all allowed to point and laugh at.

Ok, I know that the topic is “Great Movies You Slept Through”, but mine are more like “Overrated Movies You Slept Through”. A full 4 years after its release, I slept through Garden State. Of course, at the time I worked a 3am-9am job and my sleep schedule was ridiculous, but that didn’t stop me from seeing other movies around 2007 or so. To this day I still haven’t watched the whole thing, and I really don’t want to. The really odd thing is…I love the soundtrack! I was listening to it constantly from its release! Colin Hay has done a great job resurrecting himself.

I just read all about this movie online. Turns out Johnny bought the
industrial light and magic studio, that creates the Computer Generated
Imagery of Pirates of the Caribbean and had the entire studio
airlifted to one of his clandestine Caribbean islands. Where
100% of the movie is created. Johnny never has to interact with another
person. He puts on a black suit with hundreds of tiny green balls
attached and jumps all around for about an hour. Then he receives an
e-mail from the director. “Good Johnny, but this time even more
effeminately, remember an army of mermen 10,000 strong is chasing
you into a maelstrom of pirañas.” After an hour of work it’s quitting time,
after all, that scene was for Pirates of the Caribbean 17. Ian McShane
has it pretty easy as well all his parts were taken from the HBO show
Deadwood and re-digitized, so expect a lot of cussing. Now Johnny
has even more time to troll around in his 156 foot steam powered boat,
that is powered with digital coal. The boat was aptly named Vajoliroja that
translates into, “Wino Forever.”
“Well maybe you can’t fight CGI but you can always buy a Retrocrush t-shirt
that serves well to soak up the tears of broken cinematic dreams.”

Well, for speakers of other languages, there is also “Chevrolet Nova” (“doesn’t go”, in Spanish) and Honda Fitta (Fitta = “the cunt” in Scandinavian languages). The latter was renamed Jazz for this reason.

I love the original slogan: Honda Fitta (=the Cunt): Small on the outside, big on the inside.

VW has another SUV with a terrible name, the Toureg (pronounced Tour Egg). WTF? It’s almost like the chief VW Car Namer is going around saying “I betten you a shitloaden of das wienerschnitzel that I can getten approval of und crazy-assen namen from das upper managementz fur das neu fucken SUV trucken.” And then getting said approval.

Judging from this one commercial, they apparently carry the soap around because their friends are always getting into impromtu wrestling matches with the locals, which causes them to break into a sweat and get all stinky-stanky.

They had to air brush her because she is the mom from Burn Notice.
Where she plays a hopeless nicotine addict compulsively smoking up
to three cigarets at a time. So all the yellow tar had to be air brushed off
her face. Sucks, in real life she doesn’t even smoke.

In my mind there is a missing episode that shows the footage of the first flight they all took with him before discovering the wrath of his condition. How did B.A. have any type of career in the military sans air flight? I bet he was a paratrooper that was the lone survivor of a horrific accident that killed all of his company.

Quisp truly rocked the casbah. Space dude with a propeller on his head. How about Kaboom, kind of like fruit loops with marshmallows (and when Fruit Loops really did put in marshmallows, it became one of the top 10 cereals of all time). Kaboom had I think a clown on the box.
