Early deaths made Marilyn Monroe and James Dean stay forever young and timeless icons, while we saw the tabloids track every excruciating moment that Liz Taylor and Marlon Brando grew older, saggier, and heavier as time marches on. As a child of the ’70s, the Liz Taylor I grew up with didn’t speak to me, just a woman who seemed like a tough old lady who’d been married a lot. But as a fan of classic pop culture later in life, I certainly grew to appreciate the beauty that she represented. Looking at the gallery we had up for her (reprinted below), you can see so many sides of this truly complex gorgeousness that she exuded. And as one of Hollywood’s first activists to vocally bring AIDS into the spotlight, she clearly had a beauty deep inside, as well. Liz had it all, and with her dies an era of Hollywood that we may never see the likes of again. CLICK below to see our Liz Taylor gallery.

She was an absolute Gem! The world will miss her…..
I saw a young picture of her without her makeup and she was
a freckled face cutie. The only person more cinematically
old school than her still alive is Kirk Douglas, born 1916. WTF?
