AMERICAN IDOL TOP 8 GIRLS

Randy wants the girls to bring it hard tonight.
Paula's advice for the '80s songs surprisingly doesn't include
getting someone to dub better vocals over yours in the studio. Simon
says nobody is safe! Asia'h
Epperson, comes out with a super obvious cover of Whitney
Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". If you listen carefully she
doesn't know how to pronounce the letter "H". Her hair looks way
better than that extension tragedy from the week before at least.
She's letting the shitty arrangement overwhelm her vocals. She's
cute but forgettable, and has no chance of making it through to the
end. Randy name drops Whitney again. Apparently it's OK for Asia'h
to sing Whitney songs, but not Chezekie. Why the hell is Paula still
mentioning that some contestants were sick weeks ago? Simon has it
right calling it "second rate Whitney Houston", but good enough for
the Top 12. Kady Malloy
says she has something to prove this week, and she's right. She
seems so talented offstage, but always comes across as so mediocre
once she starts singing. I don't even know what the hell song this
is, but it's boring as hell and she just destroys it with the power
note. This might be it for her. It's just horrible. Looks like she
picked up her shirt at a maternity store. Randy tries to be polite
and call it "interesting" and "pretty good". I didn't even know it
was a Queen song until he said something about it. Paula calls it
her best performance, which isn't saying much. Simon thinks it's
better than last week but has "issues with your massive lack of
personality" and compares her to a robot. A sexy sexy robot.
Amanda Overmyer is next up who is going to do
a super obvious screech version of a Joan Jett song. At least this
allows her to sing more than her ill-advised cover of "Carry On My
Wayward Son" from last week. It's actually not bad at all. This is
the type of thing she needs to stick with. She won't go too much
farther, I bet. Overall just a "good" performance. Nothing to make
me pick up the phone and vote for her. Problem is, she's just a
composite of much better rocker chicks, and doesn't really add
anything new to the equation. Simon thought it was fantastic,
however, and called it the perfect song for her.
Carly Smithson seems to be a
judges favorite that hasn't really impressed me yet. She seems
pretty pre-packaged. I do like a story about her buttering her legs
up. She looks great this week. Her makeup and hair are really really
nice. I don't recognize the song. She's singing it really well,
though. Another "just good" performance, in my opinion. I agree with
Simon saying she chose the wrong song. And what's with all of these
'80s songs people are choosing that were more popular and famous
when they were rerecorded in the '90s? It's kind of cheating.
Carly's mom is a total Irish MILF.
Kristy Lee Cook is going to do
a Journey song. I hope it's not an obvious "Open Arms" choice.
Ah...worse, it's "Faithfully!" Not a bad country version of the
song, though. She's at least doing better than her twin Kady Malloy,
which could help her out among confused voters that can't make up
their mind for favorite Aryan. The background vocals are pretty
lame, surprisingly. Another "just OK" performance, though. She's not
going to win this, but may last another week. Paula looks like she's
giving Simon a hand job when it's her turn as she's digging
something out of his lap. Simon thinks she's forgettable, but she's
at least better than Kady and Asia'h tonight. My wife, Linda, "so
disagrees" with me. She also likes that 17 year old brat boy, too,
and just threw a pillow at me, because somehow this lame article is
going to influence votes enough to vote him off. TASTE MY POWER
AMERICA! Ramiel Malubay
is the super hot Filipina contestant. I just love her goofy teeth.
She always dresses like she just got out of bed in a hurry. Her
version of Phil Collins' "Against All Odds" is a boring overdone
train wreck. She really doesn't have enough charisma or talent to go
much farther, either. Man...is there going to be a knockout
performance at all tonight? They're really leaving it wide open for
my favorite Brooke White to kick all kinds of ass. Paula just
compliments her face and her textures. What the hell? Paula also
loves mutts. She'll last another week, I'm sure. Simon thinks it's
predictable, and so do I. She's sure awful cute, though.
Brooke White is my favorite so
far, and they say she's singing Benatar's "Love In A Battlefield"
which is a big departure from the Carly Simon/Carole King fare we're
used to. Sounds really really nice, but it's not giving me any goose
bumps at all. The song doesn't really go anywhere special. My wife
says she'd buy this song. Still great, and the judges all agree.
Keep on going, Brooke! She's awful cute.
Syesha Mercado closes the show out with...HOLY
SHIT...A SURPRISE WHITNEY HOUSTON SONG. Just another boring Whitney
cover so far. Very forgettable.
I predict Kady Malloy and Asia'h Epperson go home
tonight. Kristy Lee Cook is a remote possibility, too.
