The opening scales of The Cure's "Killing An Arab" are amazingly simple and
ensnaring (and pretty damn fun to play yourself, to boot). As retroCRUSH
fan Eric Angevine writes, "the bass player executes some kind of descending
scale and then the guitar and cymbals start a very middle-eastern sounding tune.
I long ago gave up any interest in the Cure lifestyle, but the beginning of that
song is still cool." Certainly a lot cooler than you'd expect by a bunch
of lipstick coated nancy-boys!
