#35 "FANTASY"
EARTH WIND AND FIRE, 1977

"Fantasy" is one of those songs I can just close my eyes and drift away. I
love that overproduced funky sound that groups like Earth Wind & Fire and The
Commodores perfected so well in the 70s, and this song is one of the best.
It's a bit sappy, but it just makes me happy every time I hear it, and my
favorite part is near the end when Phillip Bailey starts wailing with this
insanely high falsetto voice. I usually sing along with it, which
typically gets me crazy stares (especially when I'm listening to it on my
Walkman at funerals). If you really want to hear Phillip Bailey's
glass-breaking screams put to the test, give his duet "Easy Lover" that he did
with Phil Collins a listen, too.
