THE DOORS, 1967

There's always been controversial music, even in 1967 when the first album from The Doors was released, but it was usually because of sexual innuendo and racy subject matter than the overt psychopathic stuff Jim Morrison sang about on "The End".  Clocking in at over 11 minutes, this dark tale is full of eerie instruments and disturbing lyrics throughout, but it's near the song's end that all hell breaks loose when Morrison calmly read, then ends up screaming

"The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
Mother...I want to...fuck you!"

Not since Little Richard's infamous, "Mamma I Want To Love Your Corpse" had there been a more controversial song, and not until the punk scene and the later era of Gangster Rap, did it ever get that outrageous again.
