#18 "VOODOO CHILD (SLIGHT RETURN)"
JIMI HENDRIX, 1968

Jimi's third album,
"Electric Ladyland", sold more than a million copies in its first week of
release (helped, in part, by the gobs of naked chicks on the cover).
Though many folks prefer "All Along The Watchtower", it's "Voodoo Child
(Slight Return)" that's
my favorite. The beginning rocks so hard, it makes your brain want to
scream. Jimi's guitar is without equal in this classic as it
builds slowly
into a rocket ship take off. Even someone as thick as Hulk Hogan could see
the power in this song, as he used it as his entrance music while in WCW (which,
admittedly sucks, because I will always have the visual of him playing air
guitar to the tune and ripping his shirt off every time I hear it, now).
